  By far the worst department ever dealt with. Recently purchased a house and found out previous permits were never closed on an addition the previous owner had done, yet somehow the CO was provided and we closed on the home with open permits. Now we've been dealing with this awful department for THREE MONTHS trying to have a small gas fireplace installed! The gas line was already in place and were not doing anything structural (just some nailers and some decorative stone and some minor electrical) - it has taken THREE MONTHS to get the permits. Now that we have the permits, it's now going to take THREE WEEKS for an inspection, as we just found out the soonest someone can come inspect is May 31st (it is now 5/15/18). BY FAR the most incompetent, disorganized department we've encountered. We were hoping to build a new custom home in Manalapan in the future but after this we'll definitely be moving our plans to a surrounding township. NIGHTMARE
